Chris Brown Granted Bail in UK Assault Case

American R&B singer Chris Brown has been granted bail by a London court following a serious assault charge stemming from a nightclub incident in 2023.

The 36-year-old artist secured his release after agreeing to stringent bail terms, including a £5 million (approximately R120.9 million) bond. This legal breakthrough allows Brown to proceed with his highly anticipated “Breezy Bowl XX” world tour, which kicks off on June 8 in the Netherlands.

Brown faces a charge of grievous bodily harm after allegedly launching an “unprovoked attack” on music producer Abraham Diaw, reportedly striking him with a tequila bottle at Tape nightclub in London on February 19, 2023.

Although the allegations are serious, Brown has not yet entered a plea in the case.

The singer was absent from Wednesday’s hearing at Southwark Crown Court, where Judge Tony Baumgartner approved the bail request.

Brown’s release follows a brief remand after his arrest in Manchester upon returning to the UK for the first time since the incident. His bail conditions include a £4 million upfront payment and the remaining £1 million within seven days.

He is also required to surrender his passport, although limited travel will be permitted for tour-related commitments.

Brown, known for hits such as Run It, Loyal, and Under the Influence, is scheduled to appear again at Southwark Crown Court on June 20 as legal proceedings continue.
