Leleti Khumalo Recounts Memorable Encounter with President Cyril Ramaphosa
Veteran South African actress Leleti Khumalo recently experienced a heartwarming moment of national pride during her travels — thanks to not one, but two unexpected encounters with President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The iconic Sarafina! star took to social media to share the story of how she ran into the President both on her departure to and return from Monaco, where she had been nominated for a prestigious international award.
“I first bumped into Mr. President at the airport, just before heading to Monaco. Though we were travelling to different destinations, we ended up on the same flight,” Khumalo wrote. “We had a great conversation, and he also wished me great luck for the awards and my nomination.”
To her delight, their paths crossed again — this time with a symbolic twist.
“We bumped into him again upon our return to South Africa — on the same flight once more, but this time I had the award with me,” she joyfully shared.
Khumalo called the experience a “full-circle moment” and expressed gratitude for being able to show President Ramaphosa the award, a testament to South Africa’s talent on the global stage.
“Thank you for your kind words, Mr President. I don’t take the honour of representing my country in something I’m so passionate about lightly,” she concluded.
Her post has since drawn praise from fans and fellow celebrities alike, many of whom filled her comment section with congratulatory messages and admiration for her humility and excellence.
