Captain Dragged for Allegedly Copying Mampintsha
Rising Durban-based artist Captain, real name Siphamandla Mathebula, is under fire from fans and music insiders who claim he’s mimicking the late Big Nuz star, Mampintsha.
Recently signed to Afrotainment, Captain made his debut with the single Cinderella featuring Danger. However, the track has stirred backlash due to its resemblance to Mampintsha’s style — from vocal delivery and choreography to his fashion choices.
Social media has been buzzing with comparisons, and clips have surfaced showing Mampintsha’s widow, Babes Wodumo, visibly emotional about Captain’s rising fame.
A source connected to West Ink, the label Mampintsha founded, shared: “Captain used to be Mampintsha’s driver. It’s obvious he studied his every move — the flow, the dance steps, even the dress code. People aren’t just angry — they feel disrespected.”

Another insider alleged that Captain’s track with Danger was originally meant to reignite the Big Nuz legacy. “That collab was supposed to be the beginning of a Big Nuz comeback. Now the plan’s in jeopardy. Captain may have blown his shot at being featured on a Big Nuz album,” the insider added.
