Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a fresh injury update on his squad following their impressive pre-season victory over Serie A giants AC Milan.
Speaking after the match, Arteta addressed concerns regarding key players ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. He revealed that both Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Magalhães were unavailable for the clash due to ongoing fitness issues.
“Jurrien is still not fully fit — he hasn’t rejoined full training with the squad yet,” Arteta explained. “Gabriel picked up a minor issue during training, and given his recent injury history, we’re being cautious with his return. The squad has had to adapt to different pitches and climates — from Spain, back to the UK, and now here — and it’s important we manage the risk of re-injury.”
The Gunners’ boss also took the opportunity to praise the club’s young talents after several teenagers featured prominently in the match.
“I’m really proud of the kids,” Arteta said. “To see them compete confidently at this level — some as young as 15 — speaks volumes about the positive environment and culture we’ve built. When a young player feels supported and comfortable, it unlocks their potential. Of course, they also have to possess the talent to step up against elite opponents, and these youngsters certainly do.”
